You're spot on. I showed that story to a friend of my as I was working in it. The friend kept saying that it needed more, even thought I felt like it was done before the disclaimers. So maybe that's a situation when you focus on brevity being the best path. The disclaimer's made this very much a "4th wall" type of piece. I have to be more confident about writing some super short stories if that's all it takes.
