The conflict was, "Can Jennifer Laurence bring the student out of his shell before time runs out. Can she give him confidence? Can she cure him of an almost crippling introversion. The scene at the piano was central. She pushed him into doing something great - playing the piano live and singing well. That helped him impress another student of his age, and helped him reach a goal. She went from feeling potty for him, to feeling genuine admiration.
